The Kerala high court on Monday directed the state government to file a statement regarding details of cases filed by the Suriyanelli rape victim against Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman P J Kurien before the magistrate and higher courts.
A petition was filed in Kerala high court seeking a direction to the state and director general of police to conduct investigation against Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman P J Kurien in the Suriyanelli rape case in the light of the victim's charges against him in the 17-year-old case.
The Kerala government on Thursday submitted in the high court that a Public Interest Litigation seeking further investigation against Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman P J Kurien in the nearly two-decade-old Suryanelli rape case was not maintainable and pointed that the prime accused had retracted his statement which sought to implicate the Congress leader.
